G is for Goalie

ice hockey is my absoloute favourite sport. I love it. I'm a goalie though so lots of people think that I'm insane for thinking that goalie is fun. The truth is that I would love to be a player, but I'm not a good enough skater for it. That and I'm a lot smaller compared to most of the other players, so it's hard to get the puck. Since I'm not a player I'll talk about me as goalie.



I played goalie for the first time when I was in grade three. I volunteered thinking "hey this won't be so bad." We ended up tieing that game because I played well in the last half of the game, but terribly in the first half. After that I could really relate to goalies everywhere because it was so hard to simply stand up in all that equipment. Looking back on it now it's good I continued to play goalie.

Now I have been playing goalie for multiple years. I currently have a 1.76 goals against average which is very good. I have 4 shutouts this seoson, but my goal from the beggining of the seoson was 5. I hope I can make select next year, but that is a long way away. Finally I love getting hit in the head with pucks.

Life Lesson: Even if you get hurt you can always come back to a sport or a position (in my case) and still reach your goals.
