Aside from hockey, track and field is my favourite sport. My favourite events are the 400 meter, the 400 meter relay, and the 800 meter. I like these events because I can run them easily and quickly. I also enjoy running just as a way do avoid the rest of the world. If I really want to get away from some where I'll just go run and what ever I was avoiding will be fixed.
The 400 meter was not originally one of my favourite events, but I soon learned to enjoy it. I found it very easy to run because I have a long stride. I found that if I thought of the track as a short distance I could sprint it. I have never come first in the 400 meter, but last year was my first year of track so I think I will be able to as the year goes on.
Last year when I first joined track I hardly knew what any of the distances were going to be. At our first meet I heard that the coach was going to decide who the members of the relay team were based on the results of all the other races. I tried really hard to make the team. And luckily did. I ran second and we blew the competition away.
I ran the 800 meter for the first time last year. I could harly breathe by the end of it, but I came in fourth. I didn't actully really want to run it, but our coach suggested it and I just thought "why not?". I thought that eventully I could come in a higher place, so I did some training for it. I can now run it in 3:30 minutes. (sometimes four)
Life Lesson: To achive things you can't just do it well once and hope you have the same outcome again, you have to train.
