How Do Authors try to create a felling of empathy in their readers?

Creating empathy in readers is something all authors try to do, because empathey is something that means you just feel sad for someone it could mean that youv feel happy for a character, or mad at a character. Either way every author try's to make readers feel empathy. Authors use lots of different ways to desciribe how a character is feeling, such as adjectives. Another way is descirbing what the character thinks of the situation. To you the situation that the character is in may not be very bad, but if the author desciribes what the character is thinking then you may see it as more serious.

If an author descibes what the character is feeing like then it will give you more of an idea about what the surrounding is like. When that character believes that the place their in is terrible so do you. Authors also have to describe the surroundings so you understand what the character is seeing. These are how I think Authors make readers feel empathy

Breadwinner realations

I walk into the marketplace holding a tray that sells many small things such as gum. Although these may seem small to you, the reader, but selling just a few of these could feed a family. Suprising enough I'm only twelve. If I don't work, then my family will go hungry. They would die without me. I live in Kandahar, Afghanastan. My father isn't strong enough to go to work because he is sick. My brother is still to young to go to work. So my family has decided that I will be the one that earns all the money. I sell chewing gum and other small carrying items.
Although I am not actully living or from Khandahar I believe this life style would be extreamly hard and different to how I am currenly living. If I actully had to live like this it would change my lifestyle because I wouldn't have time for fun things like sports. I, like most people are also use to being able to going to school for part of the day and then do almost what I want for the rest of the day.
I would also probably crack under the pressure of having to feed a family. Imagine having to work all day everyday with close to no breaks, and then just making enough money to feed your family. Even the most calm person in the world would crack under the pressure of that.
Many people actully have to live in a world like this and they don't even have things like a T.V that they can come home to when their finished they're work.
