A is for animals no more?

Imagine being a poor helpless little squirrel. Not only are you not at the top of the food chain, but you've struggled for food you're whole life, but today could possibly be the best day of you're life. You just found a huge stash of food. You've been travelling for days, you haven't seen the tree you live in for days. You get the stash of food thinking very highly of yourself. Three days later you're back at you're tree, or at least what was you're tree. It's gone. All that's left of it is the human machinery that took it down. What do you do now?

What has happened in this situation is called clear-cutting, or deforestation. Humans do this for many reasons. They need new homes, wood for things as construction supplies, to build parks or recreation centers. There are many reasons why people clear-cut, It's just there might not be an end to the deforestation until all the forests are gone.

Deforestation also kills lots of animal and plant life. Next time you cut down a tree or a plant think about how it effects the world around it. Even if you don't see it in front of you all the cutting of trees and plants has a snowball effect. One of the animals that eats that plant dies, then the one that eats the plant-eater dies, and so on.

Did you know that deforestation started in the mid 1800's! The causes then were things like no firewood, or no cooking wood. Today the effects are more like CO2 levels are rising and all of the rainforests will be gone in 100 years if we keep going at this rate. Although we could stop most of this if we planted trees, or if we cut down the trees at a controlled rate.

I think that humans have to start taking action for what they have created because I would like to live for another 70 or 80 years.

Life Lesson: Clear-cutting can kill more then just trees and plants

C is for Car radios

You're sitting in your car, bored out of your mind, just then you press a special button that makes half of of your dashboard light up. The car is brought to life with music and cheesy talk show people. You think to yourself "The car radio is a beautiful thing"

The first car radio was made by an 18 year old high school kid in 1922, he put it into a Ford model T.

The car radio has definitly come a long way, at least since 1922. now you can surf different radio shows, get the news and listen to new music. What would we do without car radios? just sit in the car and do what? TALK?? people don't actully believe humans should talk to each other these days.

Lots of cars also have started to devolop touch screen radios, I bet George Frost wasn't expecting that when he made the first radio.

P is for Paintball

You're running. You dive into a pretend house just as a wall of paint is shot at you. It hits the the side of the window. You realize that the door you came in is the only door out too. you're trapped. You're heart is racing. Just then you feel a slight pain in you're arm. You've been shot with a paintball. You raise you're gun and yell "I'm out!" The game is over, at least for you. This is about paintball in case you haven't already guessed.

Paintball is a sport that lately I've been obsessed with. The main idea of the game is to shoot, but not be shot. You have a gun and you attempt to shoot the people the people you are against. Normally there are two teams and the team with the last person standing wins.

Although you, the reader is probably thinking "Paintball sounds awesome!" Paintball is also extreamly frightning. You have to wear an extreamly strong mask because a paintball could take you're eye out.

Although all of these things are possible paintball is very fun

Life Lesson: Leave you're mask on while playing paintball

L is for Liam

L is definitely for Liam. Not only because it is also my name, Liam is one of the top names for rich people to name their children. Many famous people such as actor Liam Neeson, or soccer player Liam Tuohy, Liam is a name used around the world. by many people, famous and just normal.
The name Liam origanly is Irish, it is also short for William, or was. Many people dropped the Wil part of William I'm guessing when Canada was created. The woed itself means determined guardian, that is the Irish meaning.
I think that even though many people don't like their name, the meaning of their name or how their name sounds it's important to remember that you will never be the only one on Earth with that name, and even though you don't like it it's important to know that someone out there wishes they had your name.
Life Lesson: Think about how much your name means to somebody else before you even think about changing it.
Life Lesson: Even though you don't like your name somebody will

W is for We're Golden

Yay!, Go Canada!. Cheers were going out everywhere in Canada after Sidney Crosby's overtime goal against the USA. Not only because it once again proved that Canada was much better then the USA it proved that hockey was OUR game, the time they won was just a fluke.

Not only did Canada beat the USA in a thrilling game they broke the record for most golds won by one country in a winter olympics. To add onto all of that (if that's possible) we won our first gold on home soil. Beat that, USA!

It's true that the USA won the most overall medals, but the international olympic committee only looks at gold medals. Since Canada, the awesome country, won the most gold medals we officially are the champions of the winter olympics! sorry Colbert your speed skaters can't do everything.

My favourite part of the olympics was watching Alexandre Bilodeux win the first gold. I can only imagine winning something like that. In conclusion I think Canada rocks, and that we can dominate anything, we just have to apply ourselves to it

Life Lesson: Canada can dominate at anything!

G is for gym

Gym is most people's favourite subject. It's most people's favourite subject because you get to run around and be crazy, what you don't get to do in all your other subjects. Gym must be a popular enough subject that people decided to make them around the world because there are still public gym's for adults. I don't understand how some people don't like gym. In gym not only do you get to do sports like basketball and soccer you skate, (or at least at our school) and run around and be crazy like I said before. Some people think though that sports are not fun, which I understand could probably throw them off and make them think that gym is boring. Gym is fun and everybody should like it!

C is for Commercials

Have you ever been watching a show like House, a mystery show, and House has his "genius moment" where he figures out what's wrong? Everybody's like "I wonder what the diagnosis is?" It's a very high tension moment and just as House is about to announce what's wrong with the patent and you here a jingle like "sleep country Canada why buy a mattress anywhere else?"

Commercials can vary from things such as people trying to get you to but Macs to trying to get you to buy mattresses. Commercials are all around us. They tell us what something does, what something can do, or simply where you can buy something. Although as you get older commercials get more boring because you are more interested in your show little kids rely on commercials to tell their parents what they want from Santa, or what they what from their birthday
